    Job Description

    International Wine Center is the provider of WSET courses in NYC. We offer over 50 courses a year, from Intermediate to Diploma level, that are offered in a variety of morning, evening and weekend options. Intermediate through Diploma classes require one or more Teaching Assistants to set up the classrooms, pour wines during class, and stay afterwards to clean up. Teaching Assistants must be available for every class session – no exceptions – and report at least one hour prior to class start time.

    Kitchen Assistants are required to work two hours every week during their course, washing and polishing glasses and other light tasks. The schedule is somewhat flexible and need not be on the same day of class.

    We are an established wine and spirits store located in Midtown East Manhattan, looking to hire a full time manager/buyer. We’re passionate about wine, spirits and customer service and looking to integrate like-minded people into our team.

    Upper East Side Manhattan wine and spirits retailer is looking to hire part-time salespersons. We are re-making this business, re-introducing this store to the trade area and need savvy sales professionals with strong wine and spirit chops to help us build our brand and customer base. We are seeking candidates with the following traits:

    The ideal candidate must have a strong working knowledge and vocabulary of wine and spirits with preference given to those with previous experience in a wine and spirits retail and/or fine dining setting. Must be professional, personable, energetic, and punctual.

    We are a dedicated team and everyone on the staff is involved in inventory, maintenance, sales, and tasting of new and existing products. We are a procedurally driven business and attention to detail and discipline are essential traits we seek in a candidate. Daily tasks consist mostly of assisting customers on and off the sales floor. There will be some stock work involved, as well as handling delivery orders via telephone, website, and delivery apps (CityHive, Drizly, Minibar, etc.).     Qualifications and Experience:

    CoolVines, with 3 locations in Jersey City and Newark, is expanding to Hoboken and looking for a new addition to our wine leadership team.  The Wine Manager will lead the development and management of the wine set for this store, and act as second in command to the General Manager of the store.  CoolVines is a curated wine, beer and spirits shop, specializing in authentically produced products, most often from smaller, family wineries.  We aim to create a “safe” and exciting environment for wine enthusiasts, from novice to expert, to explore new wines, feeling confident and adventurous.

    More specifically, the position description is as follows:

    Wine Manager

    • Collaborate with Wine Director to build the initial set of wines for the new Hoboken store
      Manage wine set ongoing by recommending new wines, wines to discontinue, etc.  Liaise with Wine Council to learn of new wine options.
      • Manage placements and all merchandising elements (shelf-talkers and signage) for wine set.
      • Determine weekly replenishment needs and communicate with Wine Director.
      • Receive deliveries in inventory system and forward “clean” invoices to Accounting for payment
      • Lead in-store and off-site wine tastings
      • Act as lead wine floor sales person, particularly during peak sales hours
      • Train staff on wine, including the store’s wine set

    The Junior Wine Specialist is responsible for cataloging and assessing wines for sale, managing auction consignments and developing and maintaining client relationships. This position will require research and special project support as needed.
