Amy Wright, DipWSET
Amy Wright, DipWSET, is a certified Wine & Spirits Education Trust educator and self-described travel addict, hailing from Oakland, California. Growing up in the Bay Area, wine was always present in the background, but her professional journey began in 2017 at La Vara, a Michelin-starred tapas restaurant in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. There, she fell in love with the wines of Spain and Portugal—an infatuation that led her down the path of formal wine education and a deep dive into the wider wine world.
Since then, Amy has brought her passion to fine wine retail, holding positions as buyer, sales director, and client services director at top-tier retailers in Boston and New York, and is currently a sommelier at Chez Fifi in NYC’s Upper East Side. She is an inaugural recipient of The Roots Fund Scholarship and was a 2022 nominee for Wine Educator of the Year at Wine & Culture Fest.
Through education, hospitality, and immersive experiences, she aims to build a more inclusive industry—one where Black wine professionals and wine lovers alike can explore, create, and thrive. A proud long-time resident of Bed-Stuy, Amy is honored to serve her bustling and diverse neighborhood with the support of her husband Sam, their cat Mitsu, and their three turtle buddies.
