Joanna Wyzgowska DipWSET, CWE, CSE, Instructor
Joanna began her career in the wine and spirits industry as a bartender to help her get by during the recession. Since then, she shifted her focus to become a sommelier. As her interest in wine and spirits grew, she became a Certified Sommelier (CMS) in 2014, followed by earning the WSET Diploma at International Wine Center in 2016 and becoming a Certified Sake Sommelier (Sake School of America), also in 2016.
Joanna’s abiding passion for all things beverage — whether wine, spirits, sake, or beer — led her to continue to pursue and expand her knowledge. She successfully completed the Certified Wine Educator and Certified Spirits Educator programs (SWE) in 2019. She is currently pursuing the Certified Cicerone (Level 2) studies.
To supplement her beverage education with hands-on experience, Joanna has worked as a vineyard intern at Mattebella Vineyards in the North Fork of Long Island AVA for the entire 2014 vintage. She also interned at City Winery in NYC for about a year beginning in the fall of 2013 with the first crush. Joanna has more than a decade of experience working in the restaurant industry in some of the foremost NYC fine dining establishments. Currently, she is a Senior Sommelier at Kappo Masa on the Upper East Side.
