Michael Ahlborn, DipWSET, Academic Programming Manager, Instructor
Michael Ahlborn has been part of the International Wine Center team since 2010. He administers the WSET Level 4 Diploma program at IWC, guiding students through the complex set of courses and exams that the program entails. He has also been instrumental in developing the national market for WSET through supporting the emergence of independent providers in other U.S. markets and managing the national distribution of WSET’s study materials.
Prior to joining International Wine Center, Michael taught WSET courses at Philly Wine, a WSET school in Philadelphia, and worked for wine retailers in northern and southern New Jersey. He previously transitioned from a career in the auto industry into information technology and then, encouraged by the tech crash of 2000, he pursued the world of wine as his full-time work.
Michael earned his WSET Diploma in Wines & Spirits in 2005 at International Wine Center. He also is a Certified Wine Educator through the Society of Wine Educators and is a WSET Certified Educator. In 2019, he completed the Level 3 Award in Sake (with Merit) at London Wine School. He most recently completed the Level 3 in Spirits (with Merit) and is very excited to be teaching the Level 1 and Level 2 Spirits courses for International Wine Center.
