IWC alumnus Gabriella Macari MW has become the newest Master of Wine in the U.S. She earned her WSET Diploma at International Wine Center in 2016. Her success brings the current number of MWs residing in the U.S. to 62.
Gabriella Macari MW is an independent wine consultant and educator located in New York. She achieved the Master of Wine title in 2026, joining fewer than 60 in the U.S. and just over 400 worldwide. She grew up at her family’s vineyard on the North Fork of Long Island and, after graduating from Fordham University, worked in wine communications and education for global brands and regional initiatives, including Wines From Spain and Moët Hennessy Wine Estates.
She then returned to Macari Vineyards, leading vineyard and winery operations across strategy, production, distribution, direct-to-consumer sales, marketing, and events, and helping transform the brand into a premier producer in the Eastern United States.
Gabriella is a co-founder of Cab Franc Forward NY, a collective championing the quality and expression of Cabernet Franc in New York State, work that earned her SevenFifty Daily’s 2026 Wine Innovator of the Year award. Following her tenure as a board member, she now serves as a board advisor to Slow Food East End. The granddaughter of Spanish, Argentinian, and Italian immigrants, she inherited a deep appreciation for wine from her grandparents, who regarded it as essential to life’s celebrations and everyday moments. Her approach is grounded in a commitment to regional identity and to wines produced with intention and environmental stewardship.
